What is Freemasonry's approach to belief in a Supreme Being?

Freemasonry requires a belief in a Supreme Being, but it does not tie itself to any one religion or creed. Members come from many faiths, and the organization does not promote a single doctrine. The focus is on moral character, brotherhood, and charitable action, with respect for each member’s personal religious beliefs. So, the right approach is to require belief in a higher power while remaining inclusive of all faiths and not prescribing one specific creed.
