What is the gauge emblematical of?

The gauge is a time-measuring emblem, pointing to the twenty-four hours of the day. In Masonry, time serves as a constant reminder to use each part of the day wisely—to apply ourselves in duty, virtue, and moral progress from dawn to dusk. The entire day, not just a single hour or other time units, is meant to be lived purposefully, which is why this symbol represents the full twenty-four hours of the day. It isn’t about the months or the seasons, which have their own symbols; the gauge specifically emphasizes the complete day and how we fill every hour with meaningful action.
