What is the Holy Bible's role as described in Masonry?

In Masonry, light symbolizes knowledge and truth, and the Holy Bible stands as a Great Light—the central source of divine guidance in the lodge. It is used as the rule and guide to faith and practice, meaning a Mason is expected to measure his beliefs and actions against the sacred teachings it represents and to conduct himself under that moral standard. It isn’t just a decorative ornament, nor is it one of the lesser lights, nor is it something carried at the feet. Instead, it sits on the altar as a constant reminder that duty, virtue, and truth are to shape how a Mason lives and works.
